WP e-Commerce Friendly Themes

If you’re looking for WordPress themes that are designed specifically to be used with WP e-Commerce you’ve come to the right place.  We’ll be creating many themes over the next several weeks that are optimized for use with WP e-C0mmerce.

Three Column Themes

Our three column themes are created with your visitor in mind. Online shoppers are used to looking for product categories on the left, products in the middle and their shopping cart on the right.  Of course, our themes are widget friendly and you’re certainly welcome to arrange the shopping cart widget and the other widgets anyway you want.  You’re also free to switch out the header image and play with the css as much as you want.

  • I had not thought about traditional, I am not a big fan of 3 column designs, however I see your point. I am currently using the Options theme by Justin Tadlock. It is a 2 column and I use it with the sidebar on the right. It works very well with eCommerce. And I personally like the look and feel. I would be curious to hear your opinion on this or any other of his themes at http://themehybrid.com. Thanks

  • Hi, I posted this yesterday maybe it was in your spam folder since I included a link. The theme I am using and pleased with so far is Options by Justin Tadlock at ThemeHybrid.com. It’s a powerful easily customizable 2 column theme. Check it out I’d be curious to know what you think. Thanks

    Charley,
I hope you’ll forgive the brutal honesty but I think it is terrible. Numerous studies have shown that eye movement across Websites goes along in an F type pattern. People look down the left side across the top and in the middle. Your typical new visitor will give you three seconds or less to show them that you have what they are looking for.

In your case what I see is Pure Essential Oils and Blue Ridge Parkway Scene Glass Candles (actually I had to spend a couple of seconds to see that the product was a candle. First I thought it was a painting or some sort of grass seed. This is a habit of scanning you got my attention for the first line of text that was it.

I don’t think all shopping sites need to be three column, but I would never recommend a two column site with a right column menu, it’s a sure way to lose customers.

If you want to use this theme, I highly recommend placing the navigation on the left side. I would also go with one quality picture “hero shot” at the top instead of your rotating images. You may want to check out the site http://www.getelastic.com they have great info on ecommerce usability and design.

  • Thank you David, it was your honesty I was looking for, brutal or otherwise. I appreciate you taking the time out of your busy day to have a look. I am checking out the site you recommended. I am also working on some different landing pages to test in analytics. I will move the sidebar back to the left as you suggest and I’ll look into the themes that you suggest. Thanks again I really do appreciate your input.

  • I have just downloaded your theme. I have tested it and it works fine. I have a question though: How would you make the products page show as the home page instead of the posts page. the point is that it would be better to show your products in the first page of your web site. I tried to figure this out but I really could not find out how to do it. Thanks in advance for the cool theme and looking forward to a solution to my question.

    @Musti
Good question and one others have probably wondered. This actually has nothing to do with the theme, rather it’s how you configure your shop.

At the bottom of your Settings > Admin page you’ll see URL settings you’ll see The location of the product list: and a blank field, just insert your home address with no directory e.g. mine would be http://dewpointproductions.com. You’ll still need to name that page something. I prefer Catalog or Shop or the name of the store. Once you’ve published that page with the products short code, you’ll go into your WP settings under Reading and set your home page as a static page with the page being what you’ve chosen for the cart e.g. Catalog or Shop.

  • Thanks for your reply, You have surely saved my life.
    Thanks again.

  • this is a great theme that i searched before.. thanks for sharing

  • Walker Kelstrom:

omg! i clueless.. will someone tell me how 2 get this page saved inside my ipod so my brother can take a look at it?

  • david:

sorry elegent themes, this looks like classic spam, and your email link has been removed. The only reason this is being saved at all is to alert others that you’re spamming blogs for links.

  • TJ:

Your themes is very nice, just downloaded it :)
