Recently I was asked if all bloggers are shut-ins. Although now that I think back on it the question or implication may have also been are all consumers of blogs shut-ins?Now chances are that you fall into one of two broad categories here. You either are a blogger or read one or more blogs, in which case you may be offended by the question, or you have been wondering the same thing but haven’t had the guts to ask the question of a blogger.
The short answer is nope, we aren’t. The longer answer is that there are 50 million active blogs worldwide and an untold number of readers of blogs. A “blog post” is nothing more or less than a page on a Website. What blogging platforms have done is to make it incredibly easy for more people to create web pages and have a voice on the Internet. So quite the opposite of being shut-ins bloggers come from all walks of life with all sorts of interests.
The question of who reads them is the same as asking who searches the Internet? Since a blog post is just a blog page and since those pages get indexed just like any other pages people run across them in their searches all the time.

I wonder the same thing too. 50 million blogs you say? Hmmmm….Who has time for spectating when everyone is participating?
The concept of a “page” on the web is a good one.
