I’ve done quite a few posts lately on WordPress e-Commerce. I’ve looked for other solutions, but the truth is there’s nothing better out there at the moment and Instinct has done a lot of things right with this cart. Unfortunately, they haven’t had a lot of time to focus on optimizing it for search engines.

Awhile back David Esrati wrote a post on the 3 available shopping cart systems for use with WordPress. It didn’t go into very much detail on any of them, giving each only a small paragraph. He ended by asking readers to give links to any others in the comments (there was only one addition). The first person to comment was Dan Milward the creator of Wp e-Commerce who suggested that there was no need for more competition. I beg to differ, and here’s why.

I have an insatiable curiosity for who my competitors are, so when I look at my Web site analytics and find I am showing up for a particular keyword phrase I often take a look at who I am sharing the space with.  This time what turned out to be most interesting about this endeavor were the Google Map results (you know the 10 that show up next to the map) versus the natural and adwords results.  Have a look.

I am in the process of setting up an e-Commerce Gold Cart for a client who wants to use grid view. Now as I’ve said before this is a wonderful “plugin” (really it’s an extensive plugin) but if you want support you are either going to have to pay for it or count on the kindness of people who have gone before you and spend time on the forum.
